ABOUT ME:
My name is Mallory Rutherford. I am originally from North Carolina, and moved to Saint George, UT a year ago. My major is in history. I’ve traveled to many countries in central and South America. My parents even currently live in Panama! I work at a senior living home and absolutely love it! My whole world revolves around the residents at my work. They are all my pride and joy. I decided to get a minor in global studies to gain a better understanding of the history and current events taking place outside of the country I reside in. I hope to become a History teacher at a school for the deaf, and being knowledgeable in all topics related to History will certainly work to my advantage. Not to mention, help me become a better teacher for my future students.
I plan to take economics 1010 in my fall semester of 2023
I plan to take History 1120 in my fall semester of 2023 as well
I plan to take geography 1400 in my spring semester of 2024
I plan to take anthropology 3500 in my spring semester of 2024 as well
I plan to take History 3700 in my fall semester of 2024
GLOBAL STUDIES PROJECT
For my global studies project I would like to travel to Panama and do some volunteer work for the local elderly. I have done volunteer work in other countries throughout my life, but none focusing on helping the elderly. End of life comfort and quality is a very important concept in my life now, and being able to exercise that during my global studies project would be a phenomenal experiment for me I believe. With my parents already being members of the community in Panama, my goal is quite feasible. I would like to complete this project during the Christmas season within the next couple years.
